The Purpose of Life... ?

"What's the purpose of life?"

To this, I'm sure most people would say that 'each person has a different purpose in life'. But my question is not what each person's different purpose in life is, my question is, "What is the purpose of life, in general?". If you take the life of an average man, he is born somewhere, some time, to some parents. Then he grows up, and some time during his life, starts working, then gets married, has kids, and dies. This is the life of an average man, and his son and his son and so on. So, what is the purpose of life? People are born everyday, different people. Of-course I agree that no two persons are alike. Each one is unique. And if you go into the details of each person's life, yes, it's different. But, when taken in the broader sense, it's all the same. And, what is the purpose of such a life, such a cycle that goes on and on with just different people?

  1. the answer to your question lies in your blog entry itself.

since you agree it's different for different or unique for different people. Purpose of life is what you and only you can make of it.

you choose the purpose and you lead a life towards that purpose.

    heavy stuff uh!! :)

  2. Well, I've specifically mentioned that I was not referring to the purpose of each person's individual life. But, I was (and still is) wondering about the purpose of life, not just of the humans, but of all life forms. If, life is just a cycle, which everyone go through, with only slight variations, then what is the purpose of it? Hope you got what I'm talking about...

  3. i would like to think there is no universal purpose of life. no single purpose that all of humanity gravitates to.Universal purpose to/of life only a supreme being would know.

in the purest form of living, maybe the purpose to/of life would be to be in sync with nature/GOD.

in day to day living by men, women and all life forms the purpose could or should or would be to just exist in a ultimate happy state.

once a being is in that state he or she would no longer question the purpose to/of life, the question becomes redundant.

  4. well... i like ur concept of existing in an ultimate happy state. but, in reality, how many people have attained that? out of the millions and millions of people who have lives and died, maybe a handful of people? And what exactly would be this ultimate happiness?

  5. if the purpose "could" be to exist in a happy state then only faith can lead to that state

if the purpose "should" be to exist in a happpy state then only conviction can lead to that state

if purpose "would" be to exist in a happy state then only practice can lead to that state
